With the increasing interest for the new photovoltaic applications in different fields, such as building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), building applied photovoltaic (BAPV), and agrivoltaics, we are involved in new project for the development of new technologies based on innovative materials and structures.

Actually, the main focus of our investigations regards these new technologies and materials:

  • Heterojunction Silicon Solar cells;
  • Thin film solar cells: CIGS, CdTe, ASe;
  • Organic solar cells: Perovskite, DSSC;
  • InGaN Multi Quantum Well solar cells;
  • Commercial silicon modules.

Electrical characterization in both dark and light, with solar simulator that reproduces the solar spectrum at AM1.5G. Optical characterization including EQE analysis, Reflectivity, Transmittivity, Absorbance with integrated systems and custom setups, including also electroluminescence, photoluminescence and micro photoluminescence maps.  Capacitance characterization and deep level analysis to understand carrier transport and the impact of defects on the performance of the devices.

Accelerated lifetime test to investigate the reliability of the solar cells. The stress includes: thermal stress, current stress, optical stress, light soaking, humidity and temperature stress, and mechanical stress.
